Thought some of you might be interested in this:
It's a Maori stone tool/knife (can't remember the proper name) used for butchering Moa (like a very big emu/ostrich type bird that was hunted out of existace here over 100 years ago).
It's about 6-7" long and fits in my hand perfectly and sill has pretty sharp edges. I'm not sure what the stone is, but apparently it's very hard to shape how you want it! It's a work of art!
I found it at work recently, not realising I was on a known archaelogical site! There are also Moa bone fragments and polished stones from Moa stomachs lying around. I took a couple of quick pics, then put it back.
Anyone made anything like this with flint?
