Ive got the groundsheet left over from that tent

its about 7-8 foot square, and made of a flexible green material reinforced with whispy nylon thread.

is this big enough to turn into a decent tarp??

If not, I could make it into a poncho....but I already have a poncho...

what do you think? Id like to make a decision soon. if its not suited to a tarp, Ill pass it on, as Im in no need of another poncho...(and save me buying brass eyelets...)

You could use it as a diamond tarp, like Hennessy and jacks r better sell. Just add some nylon ribbon to all four corners and you're done. It'd take about 5 mins to do.

If you're just going to use it as a cover up type tarp it's worthwhile folding the edge over a piece of thin nylon rope, stitching that edge down as a hem and then fitting your eyelets into the hem.
Makes it a bit heavy for a hammock tarp though :dunno:

Cheers,

I have no idea as yet.

I measured it today. I was quite wrong in my estimation.

its 9.5 feet by 6.5.

my poncho is 7.5 x 6.5 feet.

so I could make another poncho if I wished.

I got some eyelets, solid brass, 25 for £5 at the local hardware store. they are 7.94 mm

I also have enough cord for an edging.

Ill think about this.
