I was first!! Any idea on cost? I can wait obviously, I am actually in no rush. If you do make them, don't get snowed under with orders. I wouldn't like to think that you feel obligated to churn them out by the dozen.

I know, it would be hard to cope ;) being snowed under with orders...:umbrella: .. what a thought.. :D Wouldn't say no though....... :D doing something I enjoy and being paid for it :) :)
As for price? no not really, but let me work something out and I'll pm anybody interested, does that sound reasonable?

Because it's so thin, 2mm, I have given it a sort of shallow convex grind with a secondary edge bevel. That seems to work and hold the cutting edge fairly well. I am not sure it would take a lot of "battering" but on the other hand I have wacked it with a batton and chopped some wood without any damage.

If the main use for it is, say, food preparation with the occasional wordwork, that should be a good combination.

If the plan is to do more "woodwork" than food preparation, then it may be worthwhile having a 3mm blade thickness with a more traditional scandi grind.

Anyone agree or disagree? :D

I'd like both please Jojo :D

A 2mm convex blade and a 3mm scandi blade.

Any thoughts on cost yet :)

Depending on the price and when they'd be up for offer I'd be very interested in a bare blade if you decided to make and sell a few :D

I have tried to PM people who are interested but I am having problems with loading BCUK for the past few days and can't send the PMs. I'll try again tomorrow. :You_Rock_
I have ordered some 01 tool steel . Should have it in a couple de days and can make a start at the weekend. £30 +p&p, £55 for 2, +p&p. The blades will be in 2 or 3 mm, better finished than mine and polished, with lanyard hole and 2 or 3, 4mm pin hole or your sizes... Not sure if I should put this here, but can't send PMs. PM me, if you can to let me know :You_Rock_

Sorry its a bit late, but thats great work Jojo.
I'm glad to see that other people are using their Rayburn for heat-treatment purposes as well as me. I'm running ours on large anthracite but I have a bag of Slack to try when I get some time.
