Hello Ladies and Gents,

Thank you for letting me be a part of your world first and foremost. I am sorry if my first post seems somewhat harsh, however I need as much help as I can get.

I am starting a very small clothing company focused solely on manufacturing quality product here in the UK. I already have bag manufacturers and t-shirt manufacturers, but I look to you chaps to help me with outerwear and jacket manufacturers here in the UK that would be willing to help an upstart as I have had little or no success.

Ideally I would like someone who works with ventile and or can help me to design smocks and possible trousers. I do come from a fashion background, but I love the quality and general wearability of outdoor clothing.

Any help, advice or names would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum Iain, you could try the following clothing companies they all work in the specialist outdoor market for Bushcrafty type clothing:

SASS: www.sasskit.co.uk
Firemore: www.firemore.com
Snowsled: www.snowsled.com
Hilltrek: www.hilltrek.com

I don't know much about the industry but I think it would be hard to break into, the above companies pretty much offer everything you could ask for. I think you would have to offer something a bit special or offer exceptional value to get some sales. I've got both an SASS SAS Smock and a Firemore Glenmore Smock, the quality is second to none on both and I can't think of a way to improve them.
However the forum is a great place for ideas and honest apprasial that might help you get some ideas on the go.

Hello,

Thanks for the quick reponses! I would never try and compete with the great manufacturers as like some of you have said on here I couldn't improve on their designs. However I am looking to bring quality and durability to an audience that may never have seen it.

I am really passionate about getting these products and artisan techniques to a wider audience. So any help or contacts you chaps can help me with I'd appreciate!

Thanks again!

I asked about a new outdoor jacket and got told by every wildfowler out there togo to duckdri, these guys are some hardy folk and serious users of outdoor gear, they all said the same thing, avoid goretex as it doesnt wear well and evetually lets in water, however the duckdri jackets are bombproof, if you look at their website it looks like the manufacture themselves, however i could be wrong, worth a try
