I finished making a large 2 handed crook knife today (appart from an oil finish on the handle)
I forged the blade from french billhook steel, its about 3" x 1", ground and polished flat on the underside (in the North West tradition, not hollow ground like a japanese Yarri ganna) The blade was set into a rebate, epoxied, capped and also whipped with seine twine. I tried it out on various woods, cuts very niice but not quite sweet yet. Theres a bit of chatter, might be poor technique, or maybe the back isnt perfectly flat....?

short video of it in use earlier today

I tried it on the inside of a deep dish too, I was amazed how much power and accurate control was possible even right on the tip of the blade that was otherwise problematic and difficult to acheive with my other tools. I can see why these knives are indespensable to the North West Coast carvers...
cheers Jonathan :)
