Teepee, Chris The Cat, Imagedude and myself are off to Karasjok in the Finmark area of Norway. We depart on 3rd Feb from Gatwick and Return 18th Feb. First leg sees us fly into Finland and end up in Ivalo from where we will get the bus to Karasjok. a quick overnight in a cabin to prep gear and we will be off.

We finally managed to meet up this weekend to compare kit, shoot the breeze, share a meal (thanks again Clare) and a few drinks.

None of us bought all our kit down but we covered off sleep system, boots and clothes and sorted out who would bring what in terms of group kit

The plan is to head North from Karasjok on snowshoes hauling toboggans and get as far into the back country as time will allow. Hopefully there will be some skidoo tracks to ease us in.

A few pics from the kit show and tell

More of the same below. I'm heading out on the 30th Jan and spending a few days in Inari (Finland) as I have some unfinished business there.

I see from another thread that you've sold your Jervens bag Paul (the one you're modelling in th pics?!). Was weight the deciding issue there?

Weight not a big factor but yes it is heavy. Ive just purchased a bugaboo II bivy from intrgral designs and it fits the wiggy bag perfectly. Ive been very impressed with it so decided to take it on the trip. A lot of the guys on winter trekking seem to use them too for low temps so its all good. It also has a bit more length. Ive just not used the jerven and couldnt warrant holding that amount of cash tied up in one piece of kit for a once a year winter trip.
