Interesting little beer can stove

These little stoves are brilliant, I used to sit round campfires as a kid making them for friends with a little penknife. Last year when visiting an old friend he still had his in regular use.
Costs very little but so efficient they can't be ignored.

The only awkward bit is the dodgy look you get these days for going into a pharmacist and asking for surgical spirit.

I might be tempted to abrade through the top of the can to save the jagged cut line.

Now to find a knife that is blunt enough to form those crimped channels!

... Just realised - the crimped top ring forms the strength necessary to support a pot full of food / water - if you abrade it off, you get a very neat finish, but it'll buckle as soon as you load the top!

The hole allows the pressure inside the can to be the same as the outside - without it, as soon as you put a pot on the stove you turn it into a pressurised vessel, forcing the fuel up the capillaries and run burning over whatever surface it is stood on - not the safest!
