Actually most storage mediums for needles in a kit are a bit of a problem. Mostly they're made from cotton or plastic and either attract damp or don't let things dry out, so the needles go rusty

I've just minded that somewhere I have a tiny little leather wallet thing of my mother's meant to hold needles and a card of threads. I'll see if I can find it and post a photo for you to have a looksee.
