Do you think it would have to be good quality stuff for it to work? Say would supermarket stuff be worth it?

Not sure. But consider this: for honey to be sold it has to meet trading standards which include, if I remember rightly, maximum levels for water and sucrose. It should be 'honey' then and 'ok' for wound treatment. But many honeys for sale in supermarkets contain "a mix of EU and non EU honey" which means they might have higher levels of agricultural chemicals, for example.

I'd buy local honey just to be sure (but then I would say that...).
