head torch?

Liking all the gamma comments - just ordered one I've tried the cheap and cheerful route with head torches for work and none have lasted even as far as one battery change - and that with crap batteries!

The Petzl TIKKA PLUS² headlamp gets my vote - probably because it's the only one I've ever tried and owned

umm im in exactly the same position as Raikey and just looked at the Tikka Plus 2 and the Alpkit Gamma. They both look good and have red lights (which i would like) but the Gamma appears to have a huge battery pack on the back of your head so I think its got to be the the tikka

The Gamma battery pack isn't huge - you don't notice it when wearing it. You would only notice it if you tried to read lying down

i,m swayed to Tikka,..

i DO lay and read both in the hammock and on the airbed when "Family camping"

But i found i petzyl E+lite for £16 so may get one too for a back up,...
