I am looking to buy good waterproof boots for no more than 100£... main purpose waterproof and breathable because I tend to walk for 20-40km and sometimes it is pouring heavy rain or I have to walk through a terrain similar to dartmoor... Gore tex says it is waterproof but many people say it leaks after while, so I dont trust these that much.. I am thinking of leather now,, I have read some posts and many people say leather is the best... I am not looking at wormth.. England is a worm country and just by walking my feet generate heat :) Mainly waterproof is the most important aspect for me and wellies are not something I enjoy walking in and feet would be soaked from inside from sweat.. I have found few models and I am wondering If any of you have ever tried these the first one the famous ion mask Hi-Tec

I have read some reviews on these and I saw them in shop they seem to be ok but not sure :/
another option

or web tex pro xt II bust these look like tough and not comfortable boots

I am the kind of person that doesn't like to keep to the public paths,, I just enjoy walking through dense vegetation, sometimes walk trough muddy terrain etc and I would need good boots for this... I belive some of you will know what I mean ...if anyone has any suggestion on any other good waterproof boots can even be gore-tex plese post links thank you

I would recommend meindl and black islander, but they are about £150 for the cheapest, if you like high boots look at the Lacrosse Brawny range, tough and comfy about £80 (?) (apparently, though I personally haven’t had them). Or for lower style look at the Aigle stuff, i had a pair and they lasted a good two years. I would not go for LeChamoo, their wellies may be the bananas pyjamas, but there leather boots squeak, leak and break in my experience. At the moment i have two sets on the go. A pair of Black islander high boots (for work [cold and wet]) a pair of gronnels (for poddling). Hope this helps

Hi,

Every few months G0 Outdoors sell Brasher Hillmaster GTX RRP 120 for £79.99, keep your eye out for them, best walking boot Ive ever owned and always in the top 10 of walking boots for many years now.

Nothing to do with Go Outdoors etc etc

Cheers

John

I got a pair of Lomax walking boots about 10 years ago and they have been absolutley brilliant and still going strong. I've never been able to find another pair or much in the way to reference to the brand so will be gutted when they finally die.

What I would say is rather than leather lined Goretex these ones are lined with some kind of alternative called Sympatex??? not sure what other boots use this lining but I'd personally highly recomend it when combined with a leather.

an additional note: I have similar walking habits to you.
