Wow! What a morning, we were kid free, and i had a brainstorm! Remembered a wood i had not visited for 25 years! So off we went, as you can see by the pics it's a beatiful wood, not another soul around as it is steep in places a bit muddy and the path is very narrow by the stream, anyway saw some lovely fungi along the way(I.D please?) And towards the end bumped into "Dick" a lovely old boy who must be 200 years old! 90 actually, still impressive enough, i helped him cut firewood 25 years ago! Still at it, bent double most of the time, but out in the middle of the wood harvesting logs!
He lives in a cottage right in the middle of the wood, he has a telephone line in(which he only uses for emergency) A diesel generator for electricity, water is pumped from the river, and his heat and hot water by log fire.
What an incredible character, he stopped and we had quite a chat, made me feel all fuzzy! ( another good word).
Anyway, what a lovely surprise at the end of a magical walk.
Life is bloddy good today!
Thanks for looking.
Ivan..
Oh i do want that old spreader in the garden as a fire pit, but i am not allowed, it would take a pack horse to get it out anyway.
