OOOOOOhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh nice idea!

Just been given a GPS and came across links to Geocaching? wondered what it was all about!?

There's some info and ideas on here. http://www.geocaching.com/

But it strikes me as a good idea to keep within a community like this one.

The idea is to have a stash container hidden at a location with a logbook and "something else" in it.

The rule is when you find the stash you make an entry in the logbook. Take one thing out and put one thing in.

The location co-ordinates are then "advertised" to full members only.

I discovered only last night that there are quite a few cache sites around my "bushy" area, all lnked withan Arthurian theme.

Next time I'm out I'm going to take my GPS and have a mooch about for them!

I like the idea of the FM geocaching, so I'm going to float the idea in the FM forum and see how many bites we get!

Like the idea of this as a fm ongoing event!

Kind of a long range hide and seek swap shop for low value bush items!

I and my family really enjoy geocaching. Its a great way of getting to know an area, whether you local area or a place you're visiting. For example, the first couple of weeks of geocaching tought us that we live with a mile of a watering hole (Not an inn, but a pond!) used by travellers on the old Cambridge to Oxford "Porters Way", and a couple of miles in the other direction there are the remains of a mott & bailey castle.
There is a geocaching add-on for Google Earth that can make finding caches in a given area easier.
I use the same username on geocaching.com.
Give it a try, its as near to free as you can get these days.

I have visited the website and am still really none the wiser as to the point:confused: Really sorry to be negative, each to their own and all that but it all seems a little bit James Bond, sneaking around the countryside digging up packages and leaving little 'presents' and messages for one another.
