Frontier stove "the pig" (pic heavy)

Decided after seeing a few examples Damien and I would make a collapsible frontier stove. Curiously turned out looking a bit like a pig so on the hunt for heat resistant pink paint!

Cutting out the top and ends of the gas bottle

There will be more pictures uploaded as my phone died and Steph has confiscated my grinder so had to be done in Damiens garage... It does look like a pig with the legs on but clearly I don't have a pic of that

Found some pink brake calliper paint that claims to be heat resistant! The flying pig shall be pink!

Out and about. Already have V2 for the garden. Its actually for Damiens use but it's rare we camp apart. I keep bugging him to make an account but he won't! Said we would bore people apparently

It's actually not bad. Comes in at just under 2kg and is going in a net bag underslung on a longback. Although I do appreciate the pun
Dynamo hasn't arrived yet, wednsday was the estimated delivery.

More pictures of the pig. It all fits inside itself. Welding is just tacked for now but after we get a full bead on it I think it'll look ok! Only the size of the original helium bottle too

Popping a door on. Naturally with eyes and a snout welded in! It's proved challenging to weld onto so Damien is going to borrow some finer rods from work to fettle it properly, and need a better attatchment system for the flue.

The larger rounds inside are the pieces of the flue, originally the idea was to cut a rebate and nip them in but that's nigh impossible it seems so looking at interior collars welded in to fit snug. Flue is 900mm long to keep the smoke above us cooking

Could you use an internal flexible flue then add some latches to each part of the flue? Sort of like a guide and clip system?

Wouldn't add much weight to it, and the flexible stuff retracts into a coil anyway.

My plan was car exhaust tube welded inside then pillar drilled and pinned in place. Not that fussed if it's a bit rattly it's unlikely it'll be getting moved when it's hot
Quite small pieces mind. 100mm ish

One thing that did have us a bit stumped is a diffuser. Something to direct heat back down toward us on top of the flue. We have a breathing hole in the bottom of the flue so you do get some secondary combustion. I'm feeling a heat exchanger coil for the dynamo wrapped around the flue too

Diffuser? Most of the heat will be in the flue won't it? Our log burner here at home gives out most of its heat from the flue... but it does have a plate inside the burner that the heat has to go around before it meets the flue.

True but trying to minimise choking is all. Dissufer is probably the wrong word. Some kind of cowl on top of the flue to direct hot air down is what I'm thinking
