I enjoy reading this forum and a couple of others, usually sharp and shiny thing related. There have been a couple of Forum knives organised of the folding flavour, would there be any interest in a fixed blade forum knife for BCUK?

Any makers prepared to take on the task?

It wouldn't have to be particularly expensive or indeed pretty, but functional and personalised to the forum with maybe a logo laser engraved on the blade or the URL on the spine perhaps??

Just food for thought :)

Already been done....

Nice sheath. A BCUK knife made by an English maker would be nice, I own the 2008 one made by Bernie Garland, I got it via the small adds on here. I keep saying I have enough knives, but would be up for a forum one made in this country, dependent on style/type & price !

Be cheaper from me.... and thats handmade. Spyderco are ripping people off with that. Made in Taiwan aren't they?

yeah, £200 for a knife with "made in taiwan" stamped on the blade just doesen't compute for me either
they mignt very well be good knives but you can take your pick from the makers on here for that kinda cheese

I just jumped in the queue for a Mark Hill custom blade so get in line  :lmao:

I wasn't referring to the workforce. I was referring to cheap production costs, then selling at a premium over here.

As long as its made well, with good materials then I really dont care what nationality the workforce that produce it are or where in the world the factory is.

I went for a Crow in 3mm 01 with spalted hornbeam handle, you're right there mate i had originally planned to have one as a crimbo prezzie to myself last crimbo but plans went titsup on that one

Nice, proper pointy little bugger that is. knowing what the handle feels like coupled with the blade length, the "crow" will have a really really nice balance to it

Aye should be a great user for all the things i do with a knife from carving wood to filleting fish and pointing at things, i also reckon the blade shape and scandi grind will make for really easy sharpening

Hi Dusty, thanks for bringing up the subject.

It's something that's been discussed for a while, there's the Spyderco collaboration knife and we've done some branded knives from Scandinavia in the past, there was plans when I got back from the Moot on approaching and working with a maker to produce some forum knives that were tough, and affordable, I have most of it mapped out, but he's just put me off so I'll be looking for another one, there will be more details on a bcuk knife later this year.

Thanks Tony,

I'll look forward to seeing it. Got my name down for two other forum knives recently and would love a fixed blade to complement them.

Best regards,

Jim
