Low tech really too.

I wonder if you could create a slightly colder surface using solar energy gathered in the daytime, so that the moisture in the fog would condense on that and run downwards to be collected ? Something like gills, I mean.

It's the plastic fly-wire/windowscreen that we've been using for decades.
The fog-condensation properties have been used for so long, I thought that
everybody knew about it. Tens of thousands of liters of water condensed from fogs every 24 hrs.
The only drawback is the XXX low mineral content of the fog condensate.
Easily fixed.
Slowly but surely bringing life back to the Atacama.

We have no real history of using window screens here, we occasionally put up temporary mesh screens on open doors in Summer.
We have no real history of desperately trying to gain water from fog either though :)

When you read about fog collection devices and solar stills it makes the trouble they are having in California a bit of a joke, doesnt it?
