First wooden mug!

Had a go at making a wooden mug yesterday evening, just used plain birch, there were a few small burrs but unfortunately I had to cut them away. It's still green so will leave it to season for a while and then sand. Only have a hoof knife so hollowing out was a bit time consuming but got there in the end.

Good work. I saw a hoof knife for sale at Scats recently - they're very cheap & I'd wondered if one could use them for carving - wish I'd got one now!

Hoof knives aren't much good for carving really but it was all I had to holow it out, don't take away very much wood in one go, they are meant for trimming the feet of horses, sheep or whatever. I am going to try and make a proper spoon knife spoon knife soon as I get a moment.
