Hi All

Well after following my friends blog walking the Thames for charity and seeing his hammocking joys I decided to join him on a long weekend of green laning in North Wales as part of a recce for an event he was organising later in the month. In an attempt to get the very most of our weekend passes we set off straight after work for the three hour drive to our camp site.

I'll apologise in advance for the greater proportion of Land Rover's compared to bushcrafting kit shown in the photos, I'm sure over time my focus on capturing less biased pics will improve!

n became a disused car park and so with no thick tree cover and a couple of headtorches the job although slow, didn't need to be rushed anyway, so while one of us set up the other manned the portable barbeque.

My first view of my hammock in daylight after a remarkably comfortable nights sleep - Being 6'8'' after speaking to Matt at UK Hammocks I had opted for the Warbonnet Blackbird and it fitted me no problem. I borrowed an underquilt from John and used my own sleeping bag as a top quilt.

John's set up between the trees along with our 'communal' tarp which had been set up to cover the bbq from the rain.

My set up with the Warbonnet Superfly Tarp over :)

John cooking on his Outback 2 ring burner mounted on the rear door - breakie in 2 mins - luckily because he often heads out with one of his 4 boys the truck is in a constant state of readiness - even the fridge is chilled.

My breakie took a little longer but very satisfying trying out the emberlit for the first time.

Camp broken we set off for the first day of laning, which were a tad wet : ) but the light and the skys were pretty biblical with plenty of blue skys and impending darkness over the course of the two days!

Many thanks and again apologises for the gratuitous inclusions of the landys - if you love em you can't help it!
