Just looked online and saw this. Sold was suitable for hiking but from experience there's not enough large dressings. What do you think??

Outdoors FAK from medisave.

I think you're better off making your own kit up than buying this.

Hi Paul

We'd always say there are some essentials which you'll need in every first aid kit, but it is definitely worth buying custom items of kit and putting them together to suit the situation. PM me if you have any questions or ask them here and I'll try and help!

Where do people get their first air supplies from ?

Just picked up a 210 Refill kit of various FAK items for £20 odd quid from amazon.
Not seen it yet but seems suitable.

Where is the goto for yourselves for FAK related items and staples?

Does anyone know of a good outdoors first aid course? This post just prompted me to up my game. I have done a few first aid courses and studied it but since nothing has happened in years except for the passing of time I have forgot half of it. I have bought a new first aid book recently to be fair and have watched several videos. I do like doing courses and find live learning from others a more than welcome break from teaching myself everything, all the time, forever and ever . amen. x
ps can anyone recommend a good book on bush craft first aid. Such things exist. I found this. Any thoughts? anyone read it? cheers. DD x

Do you mean in Ireland or are you prepared to travel??

I did a Far From Help course with WMT some time ago - https://wildernessmedicaltraining.co.uk/explorer-series-courses/explorer-series-far-from-help/

I would think there is a good trade off between quality / location and ultimately cost .
So - do you need to find a course in Southern Ireland?

The very minimum I would recommend for playing and/or working in the woods, especially if, like me, you do a lot of it on your own, is the First Aid at Work with Forestry extension (covers trauma). However, this is often delivered as an extension to the Emergency First Aid at Work course; the full course would be better.

Any REC level 2/Outdoor first aid would be the course I’d reccomend. It’s what we as outdoor professionals have to have as a bare minimum. It’s a qualification in its self and is quite in depth, but it’s a very doable course designed around people in the outdoors with limited kit. You’ll also find a lot more like minded folk than just your average crowd and plus these courses happen all over the country and all throughout the year.

The only caveat could be the cost. Average price is £150 (non residential) but I’d say it’s money well spent and cheap insurance for you and your friends/family if you’re out and about and something happens.

Reflex medical - really decent
SP is good but I generally drift towards reflex

I have one of these in my Rucksak and the car. Liferaft sealed med kit. I have Cat D whick are more comprehensive, painkillers etc. You can sometimes find them on ebay when people are restocking. The paracetamol will be out of date but the general kit is perfect as it is sealed.

Seconded. One of the most interesting courses I've been on, some years back though! Got to do the scenarios on the crags above Capel Curig.

A fellow student fitted the Rescui Anne track suit, which worked well with the mullet and scouse accent. There may have been wee taking.

Thanks for the prompts everyone. I am now looking at 2 day courses in Ireland as well as an extreme survival course which is not first aid related. Looking forward to learning something new. x

Looking for a recommendation for a comprehensive first aid kit for our church. We are starting up again after 4 yrs of renovation and no services, so we are needing to update the first aid kit . We do have a kitchen . So are looking for a decent workplace first aid kit at a reasonable price. The old one has disappeared, and nobody can remember what We had before. Wall mounted would be good, so it is always where its expected to be.
We have some renovation left to do, such as replacing some windows and floorboards, painting etc, so we need it to be available for the workman's needs too.
What sort of price should I be looking at? Which supplier?
Recommendations gratefully recieved. Thank you.

HSE kits are generally sized in the amount of people it will serve. You can pick up a 21-50 people HSE kit for under £20.
For a communal kit I’d go basic, then stick a box of plasters alongside as these are the most used items

My guess is that you are going to need two risk analyses:
1. How many employees/ volunteers doing what?
2. How large is the envisaged congregation and doing what? What activities shall the space be used for?

It’s quite a specialist assessment but then the diocese has probably got it all worked out already. Ask them.

I have no idea what denomination is your church but CoE most certainly is all over this one. (Well it was decades ago when I was a Christian so it must be these days)

Once you know what should be in there you can look around for supplies within your budget.

Does your church have first aiders?

Is there a defibrillator anywhere nearby?
