just a note: Upholstry thread serves as a very reliable fire piston gasket. It makes a great seal, a little time consuming but seals air very well, and lasts about twice as long as the cotton thread.

Where do you get it not at home i hope or do you buy a junk couch then pull out thread

You can buy upholstry thread at any store that has sewing supplies. In US wal-mart has it unsure about the UK.
