I'm sure someone will argue here, someone always does...
but for me, Digital SLR cameras have more than caught up with 35mm SLR cameras in terms of quality and functionality.
Large format cameras still have the edge over digital in terms of pure resolution but for Features, ease of use and build quality the latest generation Canon and Nikon cameras and lenses are unbeatable.
I moved from a Nikon F5 to a Nikon D70s which was a bit of a downgrade in performace and quality but after the initial purchase had no further costs (or so I thought!).
Then came a Nikon D200 (which I heartily recommend as a great value second hand purchase!!!) and lastly, I sold that on and got a Nikon D3 which is a much better camera than I am photographer.
The new Nikon Lenses: 14-24 f/2.8mm - 24-70mm f/2.8 and 70-200mm f/2.8 are all superb.
Most people are usually Nazis when it comes to camera brands and will seriously favour Canon or Nikon but I think they are both brilliant and the Canon 5D and 1D Mk III are both seriously good.
