Yes, there is some violent fantasist type idiot eye poking crap out there. But the problem is that the term EDC has come to be mistaken to mean a bunch of beautifully specialized copper and titanium manscaping pocket jewels you are unlikely to use, rather than the actual stuff you keep in your actual pockets, bag and otherwise close to hand and actually do use.

Here's my most recent pocketry (g'wan, showiss :) ) ... but things like loupe, tweezers, LM, markerpens, laptop, notebooks, bigger versions of knife, torch etc, DAP, IED, phone, wires, nailclippers, bins, rain jacket, Dopp, brolly, waterbottle, lunchbox etc. etc. etc. go in a bag of some kind which is kept adjacent to my person.

For me, anything with Tactical in the title is a bit err 13 year old boy.
Anyone who feels the need of a Tactical Pen would better be served by a pair of tactical running shoes.

Don't forget tactical notebooks, and tactical pants.

Exactly! EDC, be a grey man wearing a tacticool cap, tacticool shirt and tacticool trainers and no one will now that you are sooo ready to survive the apocalypse. Here, grab the bugoutbag containing 7 different kinds of blade, a shovel and a Glock. Oh... you can't walk 5 kilometers in one go...? We'll take your money anyway sir.

A tactical pen I believe is meant for stabbing folks in the eye balls

Not so much. The attraction of the tactical pen to edc prepper types is because it’s a kubotan with an excuse to carry because it’s a pen. It’s guaranteed not one of them knows the martial art technique of actually using it on pressure points either.

It’s worth looking at this Wiki page on what is basically a 6” stick and wondering if £300 worth of titanium pen with glass breaker is more effective than a Bic biro and a Res-Q-Me glass breaker/strap cutter keyring tool, or worth the hassle.

I understand that this is a bit of fun mocking EDC but personally I carry a lot of stuff.
I don't expect anyone to understand but I'm autistic and have severe social/general anxiety.
Most of the stuff I carry is in a bag, but I do tend to carry a lot of stuff in my pockets.
For me it's a comfort thing, by having lots of things on hand I feel more comfortable dealing with the world.
It's an "always be prepared" mindset. I know what is in every pocket and I feel better knowing that I have those items ready.
I hardly ever forget an item as it's part of my process in preparing to go somewhere. Just knowing I have items on me is enough to give me the illusion of safety.
I'm not going into everything I carry because frankly it is ridiculous.
However I will say currently I always have on me or in my pockets when I go out.
A wallet - cards and paper money and autism alert card etc.
Coin pouch.
Phone.
Keys - With res-q-me and tiny torch and small illuminator.
Lighter.
Small Penknife.
Proper Torch.
Notebook/Diary.
Pen.
Pencil.
Hand sanitiser.
Tissues.
Lip Balm.
Doggy Bags.
Doggy treats.
Glasses cloth.
Sunglasses.
Ear Protectors.
Watch.
Hat - A hat band made from paracord.
A titanium folding scalpel.
Probably something to fidget or stim with (large coin, toy, small ball etc)
Shemagh

I use most of these items daily or at least a few times a week apart from the Res-Q-Me on my keys the tiny torch on my keys and the paracord hat band I made.
Maybe I will go through all my current daily carry at some point so that you can all see how over-prepared I am.
But I will say I never begrudge carrying the items and I never ask anyone to carry them for me.

My environment is so very different. Mostly, we need to be prepared for the highway and the back logging forestry roads.
Food, fuel, big First Aid kit. At least one if not 2 x 5l water jugs, towels, etc. 3 x 10 minute railroad safety flares.
Add a couple of sleeping bags to that for the winter.
Wildlife collisions often require a shotgun with some #2, SSG and slugs to pick from.
I have a box, maybe 1 cuft? that rides on the front seat. It's got most of Ken's list somewhere in the box!

Me this reminded me of a couple more items that have evolved onto my current list (in addition to what I listed above)
1) Sunglasses
2) Hat (although I’m not sure if a clothing item really counts)

not my intention, more along the line that a whole marketing industry has got behind "must haves". Where "mens"? magazines, amongst their subtle advertising features will tell what you can no longer leave the house without. So maybe a cynical take, perhaps. It's like the amount of 4 x 4's I see with snorkels that don't have the differential breathers modified.
