now thats cheap, I had a few of these over the years for use in the kitchen, I think Ikea used to sell them. Never thought of using one for a fire, really impressed with the thought of this.

Wow I really like the look of these! I've not got a place where I'm allowed fires so tend to shy away from the anything other than small stoves.

But I think the kids miss out a bit when we are out, this could be something of a solution to that may be worth a punt!

Has anyone used those sites before?

i think by the time I have:

Thrown that thing in the car boot
Thrown a quarter ton of lumber, several cases of beer & several fat blokes with kit on top of it.
Unpacked it in the dark.
Fallen over it whilst putting the tents up.
Pilled it two feet high with wood all weekend.
Drunkenly put a couple of big cookpots on top of the wood.
Cleaned the worst of the ash out by bashing it against a tree.
Thrown it back into the car, badly.
Put what's left of the wood, beer, people and kit back ontop of it again.
Left it to rot of a week.
Hurriedly unpacked it into the garden/shed it a rush because I need to use the back of the car...

It will have fallen into bits.

Are we talking about two different bowls of similar design perhaps?

There is a bowl that accompanies the "Grilliput" collapsible grill that is supposed to be stainless.

The following sites list that particular bowl as being stainless (as does the manufacturer's site that makes that firebowl):

I have to wonder if the zinc-plated one is a knock-off.

I kept the fire going for a couple of hours using wood and smokeless fuel - so it was a lot hotter than it would be under normal use.

I cleaned it out this morning and apart from some discolouration (which I expected) it is fine. It folded no problem so the only thing left now is to use it in anger in the woods!
