There is a tradition of knife skills within bushcraft that overlaps much with, but also differs in some ways from traditional whittling. I wonder what others opinions are about this. Also, does anyone know about the history and origins of this specifically bushcraft-style knife use?

Thank you

Bushcraft being what it is, doesn't draw its skills or knowledge from a single source. With lots of knife use being wood related then whittling skills will form part of the users skill set. Different cultures have always used different tools, different materials etc. Modern bushcraft is an amalgamation of all these cultures skills and knowlege. Giving imo a much more diverse skill set than any other one. :)
