I don't see so many tasks were a usual Mora Companion would work better than an Opinel No8 Carbone.
Nobody in France has a Mora, all is done with the Opinel.

They tend to split their fire wood with a hatchet though.

Also, you can get a 600g hatchet (or small-ish axe, "boy's axe" size, handle about an arm's length) from a forestry or home improvement store. No need to buy a premium scandinavian brand. Buying it in person, you can pick and choose a good handle, which is important. Grain parallel to the head is best.
I find the Prandi hatchet pretty useful, makes a great camp hatchet cause. It's only a 500 g head. Pretty reasonable, cost too.
