It appears , on this occaision that we were too wrapped up ( excuse pun ) to take very much photographic evidence of our little foray on Dartmoor , i am going to put it down to the poor souls that coudn't make it , so as not to make them seethe with jealousy , also it was quite a chilled one this time , and apart from Jon and Darrens epic structure , Pauls beautiful cooking, everybodys constant firewood gathering /fire attending /keeping warm, eating like lords , drinking ,socialising, kit chatter ,nosing at each others setup .

The only real group activity , being, the dispatching , preparation ,cooking and eating of the delicious gamey cockerell. A wander by Skate and Patrols out to Huntingdon Warren , before dinner .Adams fireside making of a lovely luminous paracord bracelet for Katie . Skate whittling of duck head spoon and light sabre ( I've burned that dam thing ! ) Two huge legs of lamb marinaded for 24 hours and cooked for 4 hours in the hangi , much fireside banter , including the interesting question , posed of who you would most like a chat around the fire ( dead or alive ! ) most unusual answer Jessica Rabbit ( Jon ) I actually agreed ! A moving 30 seconds or so when Katie said my long departed father ! ( the whole reason i am sure i do this , thanks Dad ).

Other than that we didn't do much really !

Once again thanks for coming guys , and another little mention to those who couldn't make this one , you know who you are , sorry did forget to mention Paul Webster ! how could i forget ?

Still I have started a new thread , for Dartmoor 6 , so you know what to do !

And there will be more of the aforementioned things happening , and some other activities and hopefully something a little bit special going on ( top secret )

Keep safe and well , till we do it all again .

Nice summary sir :)

As for Adams question, no, there isn't anything I can't do. I believe in 3 human states, those things you can do, those things you haven't yet learnt to do and those things you don't believe you can do.

The factors influencing which applies to any one person are what you choose to learn vs self doubt

So, if one believes in their ability and chooses to learn, anything is possible

Though I swim like a pebble ;)

Just to say, while I am clergy, I have no legal office in the UK. In many US states however, I can legally perform marriages etc...

Here, it was purely done as a council tax dodge, sadly, the booggers closed that loophole :(

I really enjoyed this meet and trying to find a winner is proving VERY hard. Why did I have to be the judge?? :p Can't wait for the next one!! :)

Oi ! don' t open yourself up to gentle nudging , you know what they are like ! Just give it some thought and choose someone , its only a bit of fun , its not like you will be blanked or ignored at the next meet ! Well not by the winner anyway , so choose wisely , coz you maybe stuck talking to that person all weekend !

Only joking darling , if you really can't choose , or you want to pass the buck , it's fine and Dad will sort it .

Love Dad xx

As your dad says, it's only for a giggle.

I run little competitions at work with my staff to make some of the more boring jobs they are asked to do.

Sometimes I can't decide on a winner either so I do the thing all judges do in that circumstance.......

Eeney meaney money mo.......

Yes, result. vote for me Katy you know it makes sense. Then with my prize I can make loads more fairy sticks which will please your Dad no end. :viking:
On the other hand I may end up in a lonely grave somewhere on Dartmoor!
I think the chef deserves the prize for the most valliant effort.

Lol, we can't even decide to coerce the judge or not! Lol

To change the subject, my issue with where north is.... Was going to calibrate the magnometer during daylight hours, however, the blood, guts, sweat & tears exerted creating the moors finest bridge (ahem) prevented me from addressing my own needs and I didn't get to it.

Well, just did the deed, or rather, discovered that the fact my case has a magnetic clasp is meaning north is any and every direction I face :p

The words, "epic" & "fail" spring to mind lol

Good weekend, thanks to all who made it so, even if i missed out on the cockerel after learning to pluck, gut and prep it for dinner ( Ivan dispatched it and, may i add, disappeared....guess he knew what a messy job it was! ) so huge thanks to Rich for showing me what to do.

Twas cold and i really do need to dry out my wellies in future to stop my feet freezing ;) Foxy loved the time away, Dusty too...he got home and just flopped on the bed and didn't move till Monday :D

I'm back up there this weekend as Ivan pursuaded me to dig a long trench with him....i must be mad.

Thanks Badg, glad you liked it, I love doing it. If both TBL and I manage to get to the next one there's gonna be wall-to-wall yummy stuff around.

I hope you and Foxy (plus Dusty, who is now a valued friend and member of our gang) can make it to Dartmoor 6.

ATB Paul

P.S. About the trench: I'm worried! That b@gger tried to bury me and steal my clothes and last time. Now what's he up to?? :)

Right ! after speaking to the Mongoose at length, she is a bit worried about offending anyone ( re the comp ) I have said , it really doesn't matter , as she tends to be spoiled rotten by all of you ! But this is her decision after much deliberation .

The winner is Skate , i have a gut feeling it was not for his twirly , bark stripped hazel, rather annoying light sabre , possibly for his lovely turned woodeny , ring , diamond , girl accessory !
still the judges decision is final , thanks to everybody that put in effort one way or another .

Well done Skate , i will present your prize when i see you buddy !!
