Our log basket, which I didn't make, suffered a handle failure as we've been using it a lot recently. Rather than buy a new one, I threaded a high tensile steel cable round it, including unwrapping and rewrapping the handle again (the tape is temporary as I had to use some glue to hold things in place):

It should now be able to carry just over a tonne of logs! :D

Yup. Not uncommon for rennovations to be made.
Nice job of hiding the cable, too.

-20C here this AM, same for the next 10 days, too.
Burning 60+lbs wood pellets per 24hrs now.

Hard to see from the photo mind but its the bit closest to the basket, not the bit that's straight split.

Over engineering is good! I wish more things were over engineered, but of course, if things were built to last, people wouldn't buy new ones all the time.

Anyway, great job on the log basket!

Good job! I believe that if you are going to fix something, then you should make sure that it doesn't break again.
