I only noticed this thread when it was raised by the other Moderators. I am curious, what steps have actually been made to contact Andy?

The messages that I have seen that were posted in the Mods area suggest that people had tried PMing him and been foiled by him having declined to accept emails through the site.

What about his instant messaging address, how about his business email and phone numbers? These are all available from his public profile, as is his real name and town that he lives in.

Chasing up people over passarounds really is not the responsibility of either the Mods or Admin and until there is evidence that all the above leads have been fully explored I do not see any reason that we should be asked to do so.

H20, yes, I would say that you were a bit quick to judge, particularly since Goose has been a participating member a great deal longer than you. I would say he has a lot more invested in this site than you do at this time. So, even though I don't know him particularly well, I would give him the benefit of a doubt. He hasn't been active on here or BB for a month and a half at least, which might indicate that he has something else going on in his life that has taken precedence.

i felt that the name he had given in his profile A.Spruce was a tad suspicious i didnt know you people actually knew him.And the fact that the telephone book in widnes has no one with the name A.Spruce

Tell that to the electoral role.

I am not in the phone book but like Andrew Spruce of Widnes, Christopher Cuckow of Newton-le-Willows is on the electoral role. Although I hope not anything could have happend to him or his family.

I know how I felt when I found out what had happend to a members Son when I and been chasing him for weeks for a payment.

Lets all have some faith.

Before the accusations of theft go any further, we all paid Lawrence for the knives as they are to be raffled off one day! Therefore, hopefully, he isn't out of pocket at all. As for nicking three cold steel knives, I think most would have waited for the Woodlore passaround if they were gonna do something like that!

Andy has been the person running the Delamere meets, and is a good bloke. We just have to remember that people have lives outside of the forum. Andy also has my daughters' bag that she foolishly left behind at the last Delamere meet. I'm sure I'll get it back one day!

I'm not out of pocket here, the members of the passaround are .
I organised the passaround as a trial to see if it would work on this forum, i wanted to be sure it would work before i send more valuable knives out to people.
On other forums this kind of thing runs like clockwork and i have not felt the need to do a trial run.
On this forum i have had several problems with members messing me about with transactions and as i feared this has not went well.
It is not the mods responsibility to chase members on a thread like this, it is up to the members to police themselves and behave in a responsible way.
I did contact a mod to ask if they could send Goose an email because his email is switch off on here, i didn't get much help so I'm just trying to keep bumping the thread to keep it alive in the hope he will surface or someone will contact him.
A little more help from the mods would have been appreciated and perhaps if they had got involved earlier it might have been resolved by now.
I had asked for all contact details to be included on the PayPal payments at the start of the pass around , goose was the only one who didn't provide them IIRC.
Plenty of people are jumping to his defence so hopefully someone has contact details for him and will ask him to get in touch.
I'm heading away for a few days so i won't have much if any Internet access but if anyone has his details drop me a PM.
h2o may have jumped in but a reaction like that is to be expected when individuals abuse a trust.
I hope it can be sorted as soon as possible for all concerned.

I've sent an email to him with contact details I have.
I've not seen him on MSN for a while now so I don't even know if he's online at the moment.

his last activity on the forum was on 28-10-2007

Hi, I doubt very much that Goose would do a runner so hope he's okay. Thought I had a number for him but I don't. Try Wayland or Matt Weir if you're still looking.

Well actually it's not supposed to work like that, we shouldn't have to chase around after people.
Anyone who signs up to a passaround should be fit to follow the very simple rules

Passaround rules
Over 18's only
Keep the knives for 1 week then pass to next on the list.
You must be a member on BCUK for at least 6 months with 100 post's
You must provide your full name, address and tel number with payment along with your BCUK user name.
Knives must be posted using Royal Mail Signed For (2nd class will do and value of parcel should be £32 so it's insured), post the tracking reference number in the thread when you post them onto the next person.

Goose hasn't passed them on and he did not provide the contact details with payment as requested.

Well Goose was last on here 24-12-2007 09:08 so he obviously knows the situation and chooses not to comment or forward the knives to the next in line ?

Ah, right, so he's popped back on. Shame no reaction. Mark it down to bad luck I guess. Big thanks for setting this up in the first place Lawrence. Maybe one day they'll turn up! Chris

read this thread with interest, and came to the conclusion that goose {don't know him} has had ample opportunity to explain his case, and has not done so,rapidboy is out of pocket,so the man should be named and shamed, as rapidboy stated he was on the forum in december and never tried to explain the situation,so good riddance to goose i say

Thanks for your support Bernie but just to clarify the situation.
I am only out of pocket for a tenth of the money.
The passaround is paid for those who partocipate in it.
Each person pays an equal amount and at the end one person wins the knife.
9 people signed up leaving 1 place unpaid for which i paid for and would have taken if nobody else wanted in before the passaround ended.

The money was never the deal here it was just to go through the motions and proove it would work before doing it with expensive knives.
These work very well on other forums , i have been involved and organised these before and they are worth doing if everyone plays fair.
Sadly that hasn't been the case here and Goose had certainly ensured that i will not organise another on BCUK.

I would like to offer you any of the money back you are out of pocket...seems unfair to me! I am made sad by these actions!

Sorry rb

This is a real shame and I hope that people will try it again although I know it will be hard to do so. I am endeavouring to contact Goose myself although it's not always easy in cases like this to get a response.

rapidboy, sorry this has turned out badly I'll do my best to get hold of him.
