Hi All,

I have go the OK from Man Of Tanith to put this here.

On the first of December this year I will be taking part in a 10km off road adventure race called "The Pain Barrier" in order to raise funds to help the Make-A-Wish foundation grant some dreams to those children with illnesses that may not be able to do all the things we have as children.

I am trying to raise a minimum of £100 but anything and above that will be great. The race itself compromises of 10km of gruelling off road running through obstacles such as swamps, mud and water in WINTER!

Could I ask that you all please have a look at the challenge I am undertaking and also if possible donate something towards the cause.

The challenge website.

Thank you in advance for looking."

Just a bump ad a brief update.

Since I signed up to do this adventure race back in September I have been doing a varied training routine. I have been doing 30-45 minutes of gym based cardio exercise, I have also been doing a single practise run once a week cross country and weight training 3 times a week. I am taking this seriously as I am doing this for a very good cause.

I will also keep a training diary in here and update with photos after the event.

Hi all,

Just a quick bump on the thread as it's the big race day tomorrow.

I've almost managed to reach my fundraising target to give a child something to smile about this Christmas.

I've also been training very hard at least 3 times a week which has lead to my absence from this site for a few weeks.

Final update:

I completed the race in 1 hour 33 mins and 26 seconds and it was the toughest thing I have done. It was very muddy, very wet and very cold to the point that my feet and legs were completely numb from the cold.

To give you an idea of the kind of conditions have a look at a video someone posted of their footage taken from a chest cam:
