I came across this just now and wondered if it could be repurposed?

- wood stove (with modifications)?
- small camp steamer (it's just less than 1/2 a litre) for cooking veg
- liquid food transportation?

I just like repurposing things :)

Hmmmmmm. How frustrating!

It looks like a beautifully made pot with what I imagine to be a leak proof lid. It’s a good price too.

Maybe I lack imagination but at only 80mm I cannot think of a use for one that isn’t better served by other items that I already have. I am presuming that the two clip version is smaller still.

I might buy one and stick it in the stash because - well it sits there surrounded by an aura of utility which may never be realised.

Edited for the usual typos.

I’d be interested to see you do that. A rock on a Zebra pot lid is halfway there.

Making some assumptions about the fit of the inner container I’m estimating that you’d have 0.3l . Is that useful?

Does look like a stainless version of the Keith TI cooker.

They did trial putting a pressure valve on it, but never released it.

Yeh, I think it's about the size of a mug to be honest; pity. It may be enough to cook veg for a single meal I suppose. So close yet so far :)

I was thinking of designing a small pressure valve into the lid to make it into a mini pressure cooker :)

(don't worry, I have the piece of paper that says I know how to do that :))

That would be a great little gadget. Would you have to change the rubber gasket? I’m not sure that it would be food grade….

Good point, but of all the rubber materials I am aware of, only Butyl and Styrene based rubbers are non-food safe. However, I doubt even the seller knows what type of rubber it is :)

I take a more pragmatic view TBH - short exposure, after I've sterilized the pot by a few boiling sessions, is unlikely to kill me :)

I have this

A lovely little one pot to cook rice, veg and meat. I don’t use it a lot because I prefer using camping food to ease with the cleanup. When it was released there was mention of creating a pressure valve to fit in the holes in the lid to create a pressure cooker. As far as I’m aware nothing happened but it’s a lovely wee pot.

I have this as well (actually two, as I thought I’d lost it, so bought another as it was half the original price). You can get them for just over £50, free postage, on AliExpress , probably because Lixada have brought out what looks to be a copy for only around £30 or less. I like to do pilau type meals in it, fry off the meat first, then combine with onion/spring onion, peas/ brocolli/ French beans/ red pepper or whatever takes your fancy plus some spices and stock or water. You can also just use it for steaming vegetables. It’s a really versatile bit of kit, although I balked at buying it for over a year as it was originally around £80 on AliExpress. On another note, the postage time for things from AliExpress has come down to as little as a week now!

This is probably too much information
but
That little 8cm pot with its internal strainer and tight sealed lid is probably perfect for keeping my teeth in when I bivi/camp. :sorrysorry: I’ve only knocked over my mug twice by thrashing around in my sleep. The can would be very secure.

At list price I might buy it but another £4 postage makes it a luxury that I don’t need. It’s still got a hell of a pull on the debit card though.
