Bushcrafting in Hampshire

  • Come along to the amazing Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
Well I'm a new neighbour then - pleased to meet you! Just moved in on 31/12 from Ealing, so hope we can meet somewhere bushcrafty in the SE with some others on this thread...

Hi Guys

there may be an opportunity to meet at my site, we run a bushcraft school on the edge of the new forest and there are occasions where we need bodies to make up numbers on some courses, i can offer these for free so you can come along and have the run of the woods (700 acres) anyone who is interest let me know and i will put a list together and let people have dates i could also look at organising a free meet a couple times a year for members in this region it it would appeal. Anyway let me know if this helps. James

And I'd like to be #2 James - this is a very generous offer and I'd be really pleased to come down and maybe help out (if up to it!!) goodjob

Thanks guys - this is really good and I for one (I'm sure I'm not alone) am really looking forward to a potentialn visit. :You_Rock_

Hi James, have emailed you my contact details. Very interested if you have a meet or if you need numbers!

I hadn't spotted sunrise bushcraft, didn't realise it was in the area though I am new to bushcrafting and this site. My old man was a baliff for CAC years ago and used to fish the estate and lakes around you. I even spent a few lovely hours at the cider tent at this years E&R show - from what I can remember!

I grew up 5m the other way from FGYT, out in Bransgore before moving to London 4 years ago.

Hope something gets organised!

Cheers, Matt.

Hi Guys
i will try to organise a get together in May, i know its a few months away but we are pretty booked till then! May i say a big thanks to duncan who came up last saturday and helped to build the new round house, it looks great and will be a real asset to the camp, check out his knives if you get a chance guys. I have a course on 20th March i may need a few bods for if anyone is around let me know in the meantime if we have a weekend gettogether what sort of stuff do you guys want to do, i will need to make a very nominal charge to cover my cost to the estate as i pay on a per head basis but if people want i can get in specialists for a variety of lessons, i was thinking a tracking masterclass and maybe skinning and tanning or bow making. These will include some small contribution but i would try to keep it as low as poss if this is the sort of thing people want? James

Hi James - your suggestion sounds great and I would definitely still be up for coming to visit. Some instruction would be a really good way to spend some time at your place and I would love to do some tracking, although I think a masterclass would be beyond me! (only done a morning's intro at a different school to date). Can't do March unfortunately due to other commitments but I will keep an eye on this forum/ thread for the latest news - good on you :You_Rock_

Hi all,
I've just joined and am completely new to bushcraft but am really eager to get started and learn!
I live in Southampton so did a quick search to find anybody in the are and came across this thread...

So, where do I start? I don't have any equipment or any experience other than camping on a commercial campsite and scouts (years ago!).

Anyway, thanks for any help!

Hi everyone. i too am new to the site and from Southampton. I am fairly new to bushcraft but i am very keen to gain more experience and hopefully more skills too! Like lots of people, my main problem has been finding people with similar interests and a place to practice bushcraft! I am really keen to meet new people in the area and would be vedry interested in joining a 'meet up' if that was ok with everyone else! Unfortunatly i dont have much to offer in terms of contacts or places to go but would be more than happy to contribute to any costs that might occur!

Thank you, and i look forward to hopefully meeting some of you in the future!

Simon

Hi all,

Do you have anything set up yet?

I'm happy to arrange a small gathering at my place near Alton. There would be some minimal costs involved (£5 per head) for the weekend.
