Hi all.
New to the forum. Im Elliott, 33 and based on the Surrey/Hampshire border in Yateley.
Im on the hunt for woodland to rent/lease in the Surrey or Hampshire area for leisure use. I would be using the woodland purely for family leisure, looking after the woodland/flora/fauna, occasional low key camping and just generally being outside with the family.
My vices in life for the last decade have been rock climbing, mountaineering, kayaking, surfing and a few remote expedition trips. My wife and I are hoping to start a family next year, in light of this I won't be having the time to go on long weekends and extended trips away on adventures. I dont think i will cope very well without being able to get outside much and being a guardian of a local woodland where I can take my family will keep me sane, let alone the factor of how good it is for kids to be outside and away from screens.
I currently rent a 9.5 acre parcel of broadleaf woodland near Gravesend in Kent, its a little slice of heaven for me but is 90-100 minutes each way and im hoping to be able to find a similar setup closer to home. Interested in anything from 5 to 30 acres of woodland within 45/50 minutes of the GU46 postcode area in any direction. It seems hard to find an accurate number on pricing for renting woodland but im happy to pay a fair price for the right place. I have a carpentry and building company so also happy to help lend a hand around the farm as needed. I have rented land twice before (1 field with river access for recreation and camping and the woodland we currently rent) and can provide references from the land owners on my character. Grandad had farms in Surrey and Wales growing up, mum has always had horses and livestock and most of the family have been involved in competitive shooting and field sports through the years and I spend as much time outdoors as life allows, so I know my way around the hard work that goes in to running a farm and how not to get in the way to hinder that!
Apologies to the mods if I've put this in the wrong forum.
Thank you so much.
Elliott
