to be honest, all i saw in that was the destruction of a sapling tree ( cut off too high ) and a 14 year old goth hoodie having a fag ( i think it was a girl ? )

your powers of observation amaze me.

Ok firstly thats my girlfreind and no shes 18

Secondly, if you knew your trees you would know that saplings cease to be saplings after the trunk is 10cm wide and/ or the tree is higher than 3 meters, sycamore grows slowly in a dense woodland environment, the tree was at least 25 years old, because it grows slowly it makes great firewood, the tree was cut up and has been left to season, plus if you watch the video you would see that i used the laplander to clean up the cut. the video was purely a demonstration of what the camp knife can be used for... normally i would have used my laplander...

Interesting vid.Good stuff. What did you friend do to his arm?I mean what was he doing?

him myself and another freind where eating fish and chips and i was sharpening the camp knife, the other freind lets say his name was richard, asked to look at the knife, quickly after he jokingly fake slashed at laurence, laurence put his arm up out of reflex and "pop" the knife went about 1.4" into his wrist, cutting through two tendons, the main blood vessel and nicking the bone, laurence's arm squirted blood al over my fish and chips, this was shortly followed by a trip to A&E, wasnt a bad friday night.

Josh, I have to commend your mate for having the balls to tell us about his dilemma. Nice knife that for £26.

You had permission of the land owner to do all this? No offence meant, genuine question

Video was alright but, well, wouldn't call it philosophy. Was expecting a little more dialogue due to the thread title. The section at the end was worth the watch as it holds a very important message!

Also, I hope your friend 'Richard' got what was coming to him - sounds like an eejit to me. Hope he apologised, too.

well i suppose the idea of the thread title is due to a type of knife being demonstrated rather than a specific model.

richard is somwhere in bridgewter right now, the funny thing is despite his behaviour, his profession is a tree surgeon and he works around chainsaws day in day out lol

Josh,
An interesting video, some nice editing, good choice of music etc. Sorry to hear about your friend (and hats off to the guy for talking about it!!). I was suprised it was an arm injury, as some of the limbing cuts, could have been just that! there were a few very unsafe cuts being demonstrated, which is fine if that is how you do it and it works for you. If you are demonstrating for the masses, however, go for best practice (ie - the safest way possible), it could save you from compensation claims from an increasingly litigeous society.
A camp knife is a useful bit of kit, and underated in many ways, but I (personally) can achieve far more with a smaller knife and a small folding saw (with less risk of personal injury).
Perhaps its just me getting older (and grumpier) but I quiet like "safe".
