Here is some photos of one of my brain tanned hides. in the past i was only able to aquire decent roe deer skins (all the red deer skins i have had had been poorly skinned and with them being from scotland were full of tick holes. record was 140 in one hide).
This hide is approx 20 sq f which is about the average for the red deer skins I can aquire now. It gives a far thicker hide than a roe deer also. This one is 3.5-4mm thick on the back
