Bivi bag or Tent? That's the question!

Hi everyone,

I'm just about to get started in wild camping in october. I'm really stuck on deciding whether to get a tent such as the Terra Nova Laser Comp or go with a bivi bag and tarp. Most of my camping is going to be above 400m (probably 600m) in the Lakes. Since I will be walking 10-15 miles per day I want to keep lightweight.

Just not sure I would like to be stuck in a bivi bag from 5pm-8am in winter!

Any thoughts?

I would go with the tent in the lakes in winter! I don't want to teach you to suck eggs but have you considered carrying a 2man bothy tent aswell for emergencies and if you want to stop for a brew and something to eat when its windy / wet they are good lightweight emergency shelters! Worth thinking about.
