So, after a while of planning ive finished it, A Very Big Thanks To Bernie For Giving Me the Knife in return for the reveiw.
sorry if the sound is a little off, my voice may lag in some places as i cant afford proper film making kit, this was done on a nikon coolpics digital camera.

just to be clear, Bernie Sent me the knife as a gift in exchange for a youtube reveiw, he told me he wanted an unbias reveiw, and that is what i have given.

Anyway, i hope you folks enjoy it.

Id love to hear some feed Back From you.

Not bad at all. Like your presentation style - the sound wasn't too good though. Enjoyed it. I do like the way you actually show the knife bing used for something.

cheers man,
yeah its tricky getting a good sound with a digital camera, its not like in tv where they have theyre hi tech mics ect. the most important thing is the content and i try to show asmany camrea angles as possible in order to "set the scene", i hate tabletop reveiws that so many do, if you want to know how good a knife is you need to see it in action.
carving a net needle is very hard and requires alot of control so its a good test of a knife...

Okay, so the video was well presented and it looks like you thought it through pretty well, as has previously been mentioned, by mace242, on the production side of life the only real thing that let it down was the sound.

As I said it looked like you thought it through, but steer clear of words like unique when talking about equipment and tools. Very little that is used or made today is unique in it's design concept as they tend to share aspects of other pieces of equipment (blade design from one knife, handle design from another and whatever grind).

It's a knife, a sharp pointy thing, that means that generally it's gonna have clothes to protect us from it's bite. What's the sheath like, what's it made from? Do you have confidence in the thickness of the leather? Is the knife a good fit or is it sloppy and likely to fall out. How well is the sheath finished? Is the sheath a kydex one meaning that it is easily cleaned?

Yes it's a knife review and not bad at all, but a knife and sheath are integral. A knife is no good to you if it's fallen out of the sheath because there is no secure lock up or friction fit.

I am not being nasty, I am just putting forward a little constructive criticism that will improve reviews as you continue to make them.

cheers mate,
good points raised there.
first up, the sound, im a poor student hence i can only afford to use a cheap digital camera for the film, and the mic on the camera is far from top notch.

yeah i agree with you about the unique thing, but its quite hard to use the perfect words from the top of my head and i hate scripts as they feel realy "false".

your right should have put some of the sheath in there, but im limited by youtube to ten minuites of footage and i had to cut out alot of material including the sheath and game prep in order to get within the time limit, 4 seconds off lol.

cheers mate, i will try to take those things into account in my next videos if possible.

All the best
Josh

Hi Josh - Anyone who takes the time to plan and write a review has my vote, any activity like this should be encouraged.

I for one might think about doing a review, but thoughts of that nature rapidly evaporate.
Not seen a review from you before so I am assuming this is the first.
A sincere well done Josh, keep up the great work ;)

Nice job Josh!

However I was surprised to see the knife called a bird and trout knife.

In the US bird and trout knives typically are smaller and more delicate (for fine work) than the knife you were using.

In the UK, are they usually the size BG made for you?

Bird and Trout knives in the UK tend to be smaller as well, generally with between 2 - 2.5mm stock blade that's normally flat ground as it makes it easier to fillet with, but if the maker wants to call it a Bird & Trout knife then so be it.

I must admit to not having seen many Bird & Trout knives with a scandi grind, the only other one that springs to mind is the one made by Roger Harrington, there will undoubtedly be others but not that I can recall off the top of my head.
