A lady who lives near me runs basketry courses. I completed a course last year and made a 'Celtic frame basket'. I had a spare weekend recently so booked on another course this time a Hedgerow basket. Here's the results:

Some of the weaving techniques are quite tricky to learn so I was really pleased with the results.

That looks proper good, something I've always intended to learn.
I've been offered a virtually unlimited amount of willow and hazel (plus we have a fair bit of hazel coppice ourselves) by a friend in return for helping him on his holding. Guess that means this year I will actually have to learn basketry.

Thanks guys - we had lots of different colours of willow to chose from and some that had been de-barked. The dark bit in the top middle is some green birch which I think adds a nice bit of texture / variety.

That looks great. I have a big pile of willow upstairs that ive been meaning to turn in to an egg basket or two for about a year now.. I might actually get round to it soon... :)
