I don't have one of those but do have 'standard' paraffin heaters, around 1.5 - 2kw output at a guess. Unless you have access to cheap paraffin or heating oil they ain't cheap to run these days :(

Cliff, how about something like this, they clean up easy and look nice in a room too

I have used those and their predecessor, both good at keeping a 12x12 comfy or a cp tent warm, but both prone to damage, the earlier model with the flat plates more so, and DON'T burn avtur, is smells bad! :)

There is a noticeable change of smell when you use the recommended fuel - ROLF (Reduced Odour Liquid Fuel) which doesn't smell as parafin-y! That's not to say that there is no smell, just a different one.

I used one very similar in a caravan through a few winters - gave off loads of heat in a smallish van but meant having to cope with condensation.

I keep it now for emergency use in the house if we get a power cut or run out of heating oil!

Kerosene is only about 65p per litre max. :)

Best I have found in Herts is about £1.40 litre pumped from an old fashioned pump in a store in Bovingdon. Would love to get it for less but don't fancy a trip oop North where I have seen it for less. The Pre-Pac stuff is a rip off now. 4 litres used to be about £6-7 a year or two ago, now it is almost £10 in local shops!

I just got a 25 litre drum of Paraffin from the store I mentioned and that should last me a year or two.

Steve.
