Somewhere accessible by public transport might be a good idea too. I quite like the Boulevard in Wigan, close to both train and bus stations.
We should go on a pub crawl around manchester !! that would be a laugh and a half!! plus there are some cheap hotels nearby? any good?

Sounds good to me so which pub? again i would say city centre because EVERYONE can get there. the whaldorf is a decent pub or the salsbury just off oxford road.
Any other suggestions?

Ah, the Salisbury - my old stomping ground before heading off into Jilly's. It was a bit dark in there last time I went, though.
They have a range of different drinks, ales stouts lagers etc and possibly the best jukebox in manchester loleverything from folk to metal.
Plus not too loud so you can have a conversation, also for those who partake a not entirely aweful pool table

Either is good. Salisbury if next to Oxford Road train station, Waldorf next to Picadillly (and my work). I don't think the Salisbury does food.
true but rusholm is but minutes away on the bus or if your up for a stroll (although probably more dangerous than the bush) its about 15-20 mins. or there is a wicked chinese buffet place round the corner!!

Given that is a bank holiday weekend - I suspect a lot of people will not be able to make it.
But Sundays are usually a good day for me - although maybe not for public transport?
