Antler top walking stick

Here's a couple of pics of my lastest stick, my first attempt at making an antler stick. It's made with the traditional peg and socket joint not metal rod. I was quite lucky with this as my Forstner bit was just the right size for the antler I had, so there was virtually no core material left to cause future problems. I used a bit of horn to equalise the shape of the antler to the shank which is a nice piece of Chestnut. Just needs a good polish and the ferrule fitting now.

The wood's Chestnut. Not quite as dark in real life as the pics but it is a lovely dark colour. Got it from Highland Horn. I have another couple of shanks so I'll do a mini tute on handling one next time if you want :)
