That's a great carving Steve... you're getting really good at it as well as into carving them :) goodjob

What did you use to stain it to highlight the details?

Twodogs

ha! good job lee's not on! :)

steve, just a coat of light oak stain, a layer of boiled linseed oil, then to bring out the highlights a gentle rub with fine sandpaper and another light layer of oil.

lab72, bluemerle. you should have seen my early ones! (carp) ... keep your tools sharp and keep carving :D

Truly stunning work Steve!

Would like to have something like that at the front of the house to keep the jehovah's away!

May ask you for a commission ;)

cheers lee! they were meant to scare off medieval miscreants, not those nice people who knock on your door as your tucking into your sunday roast! :D

I'd call em miscreants lol.

And your spot on biker, does look like eddie!

Didn't happen to have "fear of the dark" on in the workshop steve?

Awww don't make me blush. I'll go all soppy.

Credit where it's due mate, that's really good.

What size is it? Width across and length etc. More pix please!

I've been back to look at this about three times and not always to check on new replies either.

hi biker, ok diameter 2" length of carving 11" overall length including 'pagan' horns 31" tried a hand held profile with no flash, a bit grim!
