DIY Knife Making Belt Grinder

OK, not quite entirely DIY as it's based on a Record BDS150 belt sander - but you'll see what I mean

I don't make enough knives to justify buying another piece of kit but at the same time I was getting frustrated with not having 'the right kit' so I converted my belt sander into a knife making belt grinder. It only takes five minutes to swap between the two setups.

I've also added a foot switch and a motor reversing switch 'cos the sander runs the wrong way. The only thing I had to buy were the two belt rollers from RS - everything else was from my materials store and and scrap bin

That’s pretty cool! And I’m guessing you can remove it fairly easily if you need the sander too?

Yep, just a few bolts to undo
