Was in the woods with Tam (Barn Owl) and he kindly lent me a spoon knife to get me started on my first spoon. It's made from silver birch and was made mostly with a husqvarna hatchet and Tams crook knife. Started sanding it tonight but it's not quite dry enough so going to leave it a couple of days to fully dry and then fully sand it, there's a few tool marks but I learnt a lot for the next one :D

I started with the first one four months ago , now I'm at around number seventy something !
They say it all starts with the first one and before you know it you end up with a case of SCD (Spoon Carving Disorder) !

Looks good Scott, certainly a lot better than my first effort. Or indeed my latest effort, just can't seem to get them right, anywhere near right  :(

Great first spoon, look forward to seeing some more.

what oil are you going to use once its been finished sanded or are you leaving it just a wood finish?
