cheers shewie mate but the question is will i be comfy or not cos i am used to all the home comforts

You'll be fine, you take far too much carp from what I've seen at Middlewood :)

You should write a list of your gear each time you go out, when you get back highlight the stuff you didn't use. Next time you're out you leave that stuff behind and so on. Not so bad for base camping but for tramping on foot you'll be glad of the weight saving after a couple of hours.

maybe i do but i like it cos it enables me to be very comfy in dead but i defos want to get in to tramping and well eventually i will get down to fifty litres
but one step at a time

hahahaha i like the Faulty Towers hints,...

but the difference is they only made 13 episodes,..where as we get an episode of this sort once a day...

Getting a sabre 45 was the best thing I did, now I need to stop wandering back to the car at rough close and "Just getting ....." on the pretext that it is to show someone something :-)

but one step at a time

A good strategy ~ just make sure that you ask your self whether you want to take it 'just because' or whether you need to take it. There's nothing wrong with taking additional luxuries ~ but if you spend a huge amount of time setting up, have a constant issues with stuff strewn about needing to be tidied and then spending a good while packing up, what are you actually missing out on in your away time?

Tramping ??????
Ha !

its honestly much better than carrying dead weight
Once you have actually carried that stuff further than a car park you will fill a box of kit you don't need and still manage fine; believe me=only take what you will need and use
And get out there and enjoy it

i agree but setting up is all part of it in my opinion and also bushcraft isnt just about the destination it can be about the journey and setting up is part of that journey

No no no, the only way you can repair a hole is to uncover it again. You can't repair a hole by filling it in. It's misconceptions in logic like that, that lead to healthy holes being totally destroyed. Soon all the best ones will be gone.

I believe there is a butterfly effect with holes. For every hole that is destroyed by being filled in, another appears in the roads of Surrey, particularly my road.

Actually a strange effect occurs - when you fill in one hole TWO APPEAR - ONE IN YOUR ROAD AND ONE IN MINE!
Quantum explains it all....... as well as Black holes, dark matter, why I always move INTO the slow queue behind the pensioner who has all the coupons and is paying with the card that has apported from her purse....
And how the bit of gear I need is in the van NOT in my ultra light pack, just when I want it...

Thanks for the morning laugh guys. :) Set me about my day.

But where is the parachute for hanging your hat from? :)

Looking good Drew, but I would probably ditch the blanket. From what i have heard you have an Antarctic bag from snugpak? May have read wrong at one point.
As for the plates, I started off with a simple metal round plate until I burnt my fingers when hot food was served on it. I then went and got a plastic plate but it has sat at home since I got it and never been used. I now just use my pat 58 cups, one plastic for drinks whilst eating and the metal mug for food/cooking if it is a small amount.
I do still take a bit too much with the Swedish army tangia setup and another rectangle billy (which I find easier to use for eating than the mug) so still not decided on what to drop out.

Do you need a kit hammock or can you knock up a 2 tripod plus cross bar system when you get to where you are going and place your kit on that?

Still 120l seems a lot to me, I can usually get mine into a 60+10 and depending what I am doing (eg the moot) I may have a small day pack.

But well done on getting your kit down, something that I may need to look at again. :)

Everywhere I camp is minimum 40 minutes walk from the car and from day 1 Ive had to carry my hole possessions on my shoulders (90% of the time water too). If you love your comforts try camping sites, you get a shower too and toilet so no need to dig a hole, but I cant stand them. the hole idea is to get away from it all etc.. but thats a hole diff story
