    Antler help please

Some fine grade wet and dry will leave the ridges and take the muck off the flats, a touch of mineral oil will brighten it up afterward.

    Fox in a tree

When a landowner employed a vermin controller or mole catcher they always used to hang up the bodies to show they were earning their wages. Still see it done with rabbits and squirrels from time to time.

    Not bushy but sharp

I did dye the sheath but I wanted the colour to be subtle, just a shade darker than the natural colour of the leather. I think it turned out quite nice.

    Show us you shed mate!

I'm so poor I can't afford a shed. :D I do all my knives in my cellar. This is my main work area. My drill and a sander that has about had it. The old coal shute makes a great heat treat area. I do all my hammering and stamping on this. As soon as I have the time I plan...

    New small one

I take it by heavy stock you mean the thickness of the metal, in which case the EN9 pieces I got were just under 4mm so by the time I finished the knife they were 3.8mm. A thickness I consider reasonable for the type of knife and the work it would have to do if used for the purpose I intended...

    Why knifemaking?

I do because I like working with metal. I don't have a knife I use regularly, I don't do bushcraft although some aspects I would like to try and I don't hunt, camp, fish or shoot. I just like working with metal, especially with hand tools. The sounds and feel are relaxing although tiring...

    New small one

I had to make something to help me photograph my knives, every time I set up they always move at the vital moment. :)

    New small one

Thanks for all the great comments. When i made it I was trying to get two small knives out of one piece of metal so it took some fancy hacksawing not to waste any. The two similar knives were cut from a piece of steel the same as the one in the photo. I cut lightening holes in the...

    New small one

I have been working on a small utility knife with a tapered tang that I did using hand files. It was allot of work but easier than I thought, well worth the effort. I have an identical blank waiting to have the same treatment; I haven’t decided what wood to use for handles on that one yet...
