What would u rather for bushcraft in a temperate,northern or just generally woodsy area, no jungle or anything, along with your favorite knife, a axe or machete? why?

Is it possible to light a fire inside of a small, enclosed, one person survival shelter such as a small tepee? Will the smoke level be too low? I know you need a opening at the top and a draught. And the shelter going up in flames aside would it be possible?

I recently go a swedish fire steel and have taken into the woods a few times. I cant seem to get any natural materials to lights such as dry grass, pine needs or anything like that. Is this possible to do? I know u can use charcloth but i would rather use natural tinder. Any advice on technique...
