    Simple firesteel holder

Practically by accident I came across this idea. It was a piece of leather intended to be used as a dangler for a knife sheath but instead I decided to make it a firesteel holder. http://www.flickr.com/photos/86431823@N04/8629442286/in/photostream/...

    Jörnkängan

For a long time I would see, once in a while, a pair of Jörn boots. Pretty much everywhere I've looked, I wasn't able to find a source for these boots. Now Lundhags is more & more on the commercial tour, these are a great alternative in terms of crafted scandinavian boots. Check...

    Canvas webbing

Probably posted before, I did a search but that didn't deliver. My question: I'm looking for canvas webbing, specifically the quality used on bags like those made by Barbour. Mil spec webbing is also an option. Any adresses i the UK? Thanks in advance

Frame for Duluth pack (pic heavy)

First time trying to post piccies, so be nice:) Having a Duluth pack poses one problem. It is a great pack but not really suitable for long walks. In trying to combine the pro's of the Duluth Northwoods and a regular frame pack I've come to the following solution using a swedish army LK70...

    Savotta rucksacks

Follwing the thread about the Finnish Viha tent I stumbled upon Savotta rucksacks. Good ol' external frame packs, with alle the features for cold weather (e.g. no Fastex) and of a very practical nature. Anyone with experience using these packs? http://www.finn-savotta.fi/index.php?id=58

    No condensation trails!

Probably nobody here, at least in Europe, will ever had a clear view of the skies without condensation trails. I'm enjoying every bit of it as I watch the sky as it used to be... It should be made a tradition! So how are you experiencing this little gift from Eyjafjällajökull?

    Question of long term survival

I've searched the whole forum but I was not able to find a post that imo was posted on this forum. It was about the impossibility of long term solitary survival and based on the assumption that the only a group could organize tasks in such a way that the calories intake was greater than the...

    Bushcraft phone

Yesterday I bought new cell phone nd although I was planning to get the most simple one available, I've stumbled upon the Samsung B2100. Impressive specs: mil-std-810 (whatever!) compliance for dust/water resistance, rugged casing, built in (good) led torch. Anyone have experience wth this...

    Brilliant!

I was explaining my son what a CC mail was and how (and for what purpose)that kind of communication was generally used. Summarizing what I just told he said: Ah, just copy cr*p! I find this kind of innate wisdom worth mentioning & spread the word...

    Wool blanket

Following the Lowe heads up at Endicotts, I've spotted they have the Dutch wool blankets. I can reccomend these for serious use and amongst the things I have done with these blankets is the fabrication of a bush shirt including hood. The interesting thing about these blankets is that they seem...

    Man exposing himself...

Wednesday I saw a strange man on TV, exposing himself in the snow, wasting a reindeer leaving the carcass and large part of the meat along the road, jumping from a cliff onto a birch tree and wasting the tree too. Then he urinated on his ski's... What about 'leave no trace' and make some sense?

    Let's help 'm out!

We sure must have some spare kit  : According to a report filed by Captain Bengt Nitz of the Amf 1 amphibious regiment, based in Hårsfjärden outside of Stockholm, the boots issued to the unit’s soldiers were of such poor quality that one commander considered ordering soldiers under...
