Disclaimer: This is going to be a long post. It´s also the first post for me in quite some time so I have a huge back log of stuff I want to say. Sorry! Also, I'm not a native english speaker.
Introduction: Just the other day it was finally time for that terrible but also fulfilling (and larder...
As today I will celebrate my 10 year anniversare of being a member of this site I am holding a small photo competition. I will be the sole judge of it all. There will be prizes for 1st and 2nd place. There will also be a small prize to the worst entry. The prizes might or might not be presented...
Alright, where can I find natobuttons in bulk? Not pallets but at least hundreds.. Only found them at asmc.de in packets of ten at a prize that would ruin me. Need a proper supplie, got vat no etc..
Alright, the best knife has been discussed to death here, let's try to find the worst knife ever! (For outdoors purposes at least). Put image link plus url to where to buy it. Bonus for ridiculously high prices.
I'll start out with "Master Cutlery TA-86", a quality knife that is really good for...
Will be spending august to december in Yorkshire, around Leeds. Are there any possibilities of hiking or so around there? I know nought of the area. I have some friends in Sheffield and a few in Edinburgh. Is it better to travel to do a weekend in the wild? Also if anybody has a spare room to...
Turns out not so good:
Had it been goretex it would been easy to duct tape. If the weather hadn't been so good the day after I ripped it I would have been forced to stitch it up, with an awkward fold right under the backpack. There are always drawbacks and advantages with all materials...
Hello, I have recently received swatch books from a couple of british cloth merchants. Most of the cloths are not that interesting for you lot, but Hainsworth of Pudley has some fabrics which I would be happy to use for bushy stuff. Their cavalry twill would make a fantastic woolen outerwear. A...
This thought to be an ongoing thread on a projet I'm doing. Hope it's an inspiration to someone.
A couple of weeks ago I found a frame pack I have been looking for for about a year or so. The honourable fjällräven gyro. It is in my, and many others, the best frame pack ever developed. It has a...

Both are pretty well referenced. Yes, fleece (the synthetic version, not the one growing on sheep) is...
I'm gonna make a new woolen jacshirt out of army blankets (dyed). And was wondering if anybody else would like to join this endeavour?
It will be a perfect oppurtunity to make a decent fitting outergarment, and learn a lot about drafting, patternmaking and sewing in great detail during the...
Failing to find one locally I wonder if somebody stepped over a webshop selling coats industrial sewing thread? I am specifically looking for their waxed linen thread on big cones, for sewing leather.
I've somehow ended up being a dog owner. A very nice situation indeed. It's not a very typical bushcraft dog. I have always had something for sight hounds, originally I wanted a scottish deerhound or a Irish wolfhound. But the one who melted my heart was a big greyhound. So greyhound it is.
As...
stumbled upon www.landscapegb.com . Fascinating stuff really, albeit a bit on the technical side, and maybe a bit too few contributors.. Interesting nonetheless.
Just saw this fabulous movie. If you are in the right mood and are somewhat hopeful that there might be supernatural stuff out there, and enjoy beatiful scenery I whole heartedly recommend this movie. Gave me a few laughs and some awe of the nice landscapes in Norway.

So got these in the mail today:
Don't really know what to expect long term. But at $33.40, how could you go wrong? Seems quite well made and are a delight on my feet. Will go for a short run tomorrow morning and use them on some beach walking/food collecting in the weekend. Right now they feel...
I'm gonna dye some fabric (cotton duck), and I want it pitch black. I want to use a natural dye. The only recipe I've come across mentions the use of oak galls. I'm afraid it's not so many such things around at this place in time and space. What is the active ingredient in oak galls? Tannic acid?
Anyone know from where/what I can re-use (read: scavenge) some thin spring steel? I need it to be about 1.5-2mm and springy.
What steel is it in hand saws?
