EDC is it always carry the same (few) items or adapt it for different circumstances? I have a couple of items I always have with me plus two or three “kits” that I pick up depending on season etc.
My everyday carry blade, in Florida, is a Boker Strike Plus. This is an automatic knife. I have carried one on me since 2018 or 2019. I was having lunch with an old friend when I asked if he owned an automatic knife. He said, no, so I handed the one in my pocket. I like these knives, so I had a few more on hand unused to replace the one that I gave away. These not fancy knives but are robust and provide excellent service.
I'm not sure that I'd count anything in the pockets of my trousers - an article of clothing that I wear - as part of my 'EDC'. If it is attached to a belt - something else 'worn' but whose primary use is to hold up the previously mentioned trousers - or carried (key word!) in a bag, pouch or pack, then those items I would consider 'EDC', whether I carried them every day or not.
What seems to be apparent is the vagueness or flexibility of acronyms. They shift according to need, culture, activity and even mood. 'Every Day Carry' does not - and should not mean 'Every Day Use'; it seems to describe a range of useful stuff that might be of service at some, unspecified point in the day.

It is an excellent point. In my mind the question refers to knives, yet, my pockets also contain a Glock 19, extra magazine, streamlight, OC gel, daily medication, fountain pens, candy (needed for diabetes) and occasionally a tourniquet plus NARCAN inhalers.
I hate acronyms with a vengeance! Just say it, it's a lazy habit and maks gibberish of language.. I just switch off mentaly when I hear it. I don't need to spend time decodeing everything while trying to read or listen to something.. it takes away from the flow of a sentence, confuses people, and supposedly makes people look like they are intelligent, while completely confusing others who are maybe not familiar with certain acronyms and possibly' have no need to use them in their daily life.
No offence to those that use them daily at work medications, or whatever, your colleague probably does the same and it's normal jargon , it's when it's used by politicians and businessmen making statements on TV or wherever, in an attempt to obviscate the issue to the average Jill or Joe.

In BcUK IRC, an SAK and an FAK are mandatory EDC. IMHO @Woody girl is right acronyms in conversation = NBG.

I don't think an apology is necessary - I think you've use it in a more cultural specific application - your location has some differences to our own.
It took me all of a second or two google the term to have a better understanding of what it was.

Case in point, groggy me, woken at silly o'clock at night in the hospital with a very efficient nurse who could only speak in heavily accented acronyms. Something along the lines of, hello, I've come to do your OBS, check your BP , IV and O SATs. Seriously!
Am I supposed to instantly understand that jargon in a sleepy just woken state while ill?
Just speak normaly ***!, actualy, I hate that last one, so I'm officially changing it to FHS, work it out, and let me know if you get it. It's much nicer, and if we actualy need an acronym for that phrase, one to be encouraged, and it won't get bleeped out!!!

I have no strong feelings about acronyms one way or the other and have occasionally been guilty of using some of the more easily recognised prepper acronyms….however bushcraft isn’t really the same as prepping for me. Bush craft for me is more about slowing down and getting back into the natural world. Sure, some bushcraft skills translate well into prepping or hunting for me but it isn’t necessarily the same for everyone.
Anyway, back to my point…acronyms are only really necessary for speedy communication within an in-group that understands them and they’re a bit pointless around a camp fire when the evening has set in and time seems to slow down. To my mind that is the time for meaningful conversation along with some sort of chore that just keeps the hands busy without too much thought. Maybe I’m getting old.
