its just gonna end up another Y2K Doomers date reality just another day....

I agree, the end of a 26,000 year cycle. It either goes back to the start or they would have made another as the sky which it was made to represent will change when we pass through the galactic plane. They did say it would be a time of great change though.

LOL so 2012 is a year to look forward to? Northern Lights worldwide sounds brilliant!! Genuinely intrigued now with all this Mayan stuff. Although i do also know that the Mayans used their calendar as a means to isolate people, and control their lives: the power of the timetable.

Still tho...there always seems to be a kernel of wisdom in these things. think theres enough kit floating about round here to form some sort of survivors utopia...lol...

On the climate change issue: yes the planet lives on, but will we? i think whenever this starts to go off, plus the lack of oil, the lack of plastics, some sort of flu virus, a drought in Africa, population collapse.

Probably nothing we can do about it now - so i say: lets get back to the drawing board now, so we've got some ideas ready for what happens afterwards!!

Its not just the mayans who have records of this stuff, so do egypt and sumaria ( the 3 dead languages i know).

The only Mayan stuff worth concerning bushcraft about is Mayan Dust and that's rubbish too. I can tell you their stone calendars are blo**y heavy in your rucksack

To be honest, I'm not sure I have much trust in the 'knowledge' shown by a group of people who believed they had to rip someone's still-beating heart out to ensure the sun rises.

Erm it is. Its the same thing, and unfortunately the events causing global warming are the same events leading up to 2012. Nothing tin foil about it. The sun is what it is all about. Always was.

In the bible Jesus is the sun not son of god. 12 dicsiples ( 12 planets) crucified on a cross the symbol for the sun has always been a cross, also relates to the crossing point happening in 2012 and the equinox's. All astrology. Religon always was about astrology. Wheres the conspiracy in natural solar cycles?

I don't see what the big hoopla is all about with global climate change it did this 9000-13,000 years ago or their abouts its a cycle of the planet get a grip not like we will be able to stop it hell we cant even stop a hurricane let alone a world climate change get over it....

Our astronomers and scientists more than respect mayan timekeeping/astronomical knowledge. The even use the Sumarian texts of how the earth and moon came into existence as their theories of said events, look it up.

The mayans never ripped hearts out for the reason you gave. It was their capital punishment, the same ones we give the lethal injections to these days. It was offered as a sacrifice to the gods, in front of people who were controlled by religon in a brutal way. Fear = Control. Yet their timekeeping etc was so accurate that it is out by 33 seconds after thousands of years, while our "modern and advanced" calender is incorrect by 6 hours every year.

Our knowledge is worse.Their calculations we too accurate to ignore. The last climate shift 5200 years ago also fits with the calendar. They and the sumarians found pluto for example thousands of years before we did. Yet we did not know about it or we would never have had to find it.

The stars travel round the sky in a cycle that takes 26000 years. The mayan longcount calendar covers 13000 years. We pass through the dark rift twice every 26000 year cycle.
